The Thirteenth Tale

As a child, Margaret Lea was surrounded by books of all kinds. Now a grown-up, she has taken full interest in the stories of people who once was, and bringing to life their story.

Coming home to her apartment one night, she came upon a letter from a well-known author, Vida Winter. A simple request - to write Ms. Winter's story before it was too late. Knowing she had no background on Vida Winter's works, Margaret was hesitant. Stumbling upon one of Ms. Winter's books, The Thirteen Tales of Change and Desperation, in her father's collection, she was immediately brought into the world of Ms. Winter's tales, and was upset to discover that there were only twelve stories. Desperate to find out what the thirteenth tale is, Margaret sets out to do the job she was asked to do - to be Ms. Winter's biographer.

As Ms. Winter narrates her story, the truths surface. The shadows of the past are uncovered and the history of a family forgotten is unfolded. As Ms. Winter reminisces her childhood and to the events that would lead to the now derelict Angelfield estate, Margaret is drawn deeper into the story, digging up secrets that were long buried, and realizing that there might be a thin line connecting them both.

The book is so full of twists and turns and with every chapter another beginning is brought to life. A page-turner, The Thirteenth Tale gives us a glimpse of losing our way, accepting the truth, and finding our way back to our home - our family.
