Harry Hole Survives!

Attention Harry Hole fans, perhaps there's still hope for some more of the charming alkie we all love. Picking up from where the Phantom left off, Jo Nesbo's newest book, Police (Politi), will be released this autumn, and guess who's come to join in?

This announcement was released by Harvill Secker, stating that the 10th installment of the Harry Hole series will soon end the one big question that's bugging every Harry Hole fan out there - Is Harry alive? Well, he better be. Harry may not be the typical hero, but readers simply love the humanity that he represents - the vulnerability, imperfections, bad choices, selfishness, stubbornness.

Here is a synopsis of Police:
Several police officers are found murdered at the scene of an old and unsolved murder case that they were involved in investigating. The killings are extremely brutal and bestial. The police have no leads. What's more, they're missing their best investigator. A severely wounded man in a coma is kept alive at a hospital in Oslo. The room is guarded by the police and the identity of the patient is kept secret. (taken from http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/n/jo-nesbo/police.htm)

I can't wait to get a hold of this book. This would definitely spell out all the answers we're searching for and of course, this would change the game play for Harry.

Another good news is that right after the release of Police, Harvill Secker will be releasing the English version of Kakerlakkene, The Cockroaches, where Harry is set in Bangkok, solving the murder of a Norwegian ambassador to the country. This is the second book of the Harry Hole series and the only book not yet translated into English, following Harry's misadventures in the Aussie outback, the first of the series - the Bat. This book would tie all the missing links as there are some snips mentioned in the other books.

According to an interview with Jo Nesbo, though it may not yet be the end for Harry Hole, he is nearer to the end. Though it's still a secret as to how long this would go on before Jo gets tired of the character, fans still can't get enough of the flawed five-O, the mess he makes and the things he does right just in the knick of time. Will he stop drinking? We'll someday know. But for now, we genuinely love the tall, blonde, blue-eyed Norwegian with all the flaws, who's lost but still got his heart in the right place.
