Fall Out Boy... Live in Manila

Left to right: Andy Hurley, Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump, Joe Trohman

After a 3-year hiatus, the pop punk band, Fall Out Boy, returns with a bang and screaming the banner of saving rock and roll. With a band that seemingly didn't have a name to begin with, Fall Out Boy is now on their fifth album entitled "Save Rock and Roll".

Composed of a foursome, they started playing in their hometown of Chicago and ultimately got their name from a fan suggestion in a crowd in one of their local concerts, with a reference from a Simpson character. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley. Pete Wentz is the primary lyricist, while Patrick Stump is the primary composer.
With their first album From Under the Cork Tree, the band made its groundbreaking move from playing in their locality to eventually spreading their name and their songs across the globe. Their follow-up album Take This to Your Grave features the all time famous classic "Sugar We're Going Down" and "Dance, Dance". In 2007, Infinity on High, their third album, was released and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album features the songs "Thnks fr th Mmrs", "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" and "I'm Like a Lawyer with the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off (Me and You)". Their fourth album Folie a Deux was released in 2008. After the release of this album. the band announced an indefinite hiatus, stating that it is not a break up, but that the band just wanted to take some time to rest and to do some individual projects.
With the band's announcement of their comeback, the hoorahs of every fanboy/girl can be seen in the cyber community. Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Youtube and Instagram screamed with every car-crashed hearts banter of surviving the hiatus and that believers never die. Now with their new album hitting number one in iTunes on its release date last April 15, the America's Suitehearts have now shifted to a brand new monicker, the Young Bloods

Although Fall Out Boy is a pop punk/punk rock/alter rock band, they do not limit themselves with the genre that they've incorporated themselves with. Doing collaborations with R&B artists, original songs and remixes can be seen in their albums featuring artists such as 2Chainz, Lil WayneKanye West, and Big Sean. Swimming to deeper seas, they've also collaborated with a different set of artists with the likes of Foxes (Just One Yesterday), Courtney Love (Rat-a-Tat) and Elton John (Save Rock and Roll).
Fall Out Boy is also well-known for their tongue-tying titles that could be mistaken as a sentence. Now in their fifth album, they seemed to have toned down that attribute although "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'em Up)" is a far cry from saying goodbye to this all too familiar long titles. With a mix of different melody and tunes, Save Rock and Roll is a hip and fresh outlook of Fall Out Boy but still with a tinge of pop punk.
Fall Out Boy will be in the Philippines live on August 8, 2013 at 8pm, as part of their tour, at the Big Dome. For tickets, click here. I'm definitely going!
