The Twisted Window

Tracy, a coping teenager, is caught up with her own problems - her mom being murdered and her dad being very unreachable. Living with her aunt and uncle, Tracy tries to live a normal teenage life. But when Brad suddenly appears out of nowhere, high school life might not be all that simple.

Brad is trying to get her to connive with his plan to snatch his little sister away from his step-dad, who kidnapped her from him and his mom. With the little details that she has, she plunges in and goes with the plan, hoping to reunite the ties that were broken and stolen away from them. Slowly, as reality hits her one by one, Tracy questions the credibility of Brad's story and tries to hold on to her confidence and dig up the truth on her own.

The story is a very touching one since it basically surrounds the concept of family life. Losing loved ones and trying to cope with the loss is a very difficult place to be in, and in this book, it goes to show that it really does take its toll. The story slowly builds up and plays out the essential details. Revelations are unfolded unexpectedly. However, the climax of the story was somehow cut short. I did not quite get the thrill of the chase and all of the sudden, as you thought that there's more that's going to happen, the story abruptly ends. Though the ending gives an assurance of what things may happen in the future, somehow, it feels like the author all of a sudden decided to end it right then and there. Still, I enjoyed reading The Twisted Window. It's a heartwarming read for those who have close family ties. It makes you appreciate the love and presence of each family member, and the highs and lows that you face together and fight together.
